Vlisco organizes a three- day training session to educate young designers and fashion ethusiasts about the gimmicks of the fashion industry .
Vlisco, an African Print specialist organized training sessions on the 26th -28th of February to equip young fashion enthusiasts with relevant skills and knowledge for the job market. The training session is in preparation for individuals who are interested in applying for the Vlisco Fashion Fund. The initiative which was birthed in 2013, seeks to provide young fashion brands with the necessary support to grow their business and realize their potential.
This year’s event took place at the Kofi Annan Peace Keeping Center Ridge and saw over 240 participants in the training program. In an interview by TrendsandBlendGh with Mrs. Deborah, The Vlisco Brand Activation Manager for Ghana, the latter elucidated the selection process .
“They were shortlisted because we had to put aid to it. So, there was an age bracket from 18 to 35 years. The reason being, we want to see their growth and we feel that we can really impact those who are much younger.”
Dignitaries including the Managing Director for Vlisco; Fatoumata Doro,Mrs. Deborah: The Vlisco Brand Ambassador, Ekow Mensah from Ekow Mensah Consulting, and Joyce Sackitey-Ahiadome; Head and Transformation and Communication at Vlisco were in attendance. Past winners of the Vlisco Fund Belinda Ofori of Turquoise Couture and Jeremiah Mensah of Jerey Mensah were also present.
